This is a landform of horizontal karst caves that develop along the groundwater surface. These caves are formed by erosion due to frequent flooding along the foot of rock peaks in karst peak plains and karst valleys. The cave walls are often marked by side troughs, flow marks and shell-like ripple marks. The caves often have channel shapes, which are a typical form of water karst. Guilin in Guangxi Province and Dushan in Guizhou Province are examples of this kind of landform (Fig. 9).
