Jianrong Xin (1946–) is a university professor. In 1970, he graduated from the Beijing Institute of Geology (now China University of Geosciences), and he began to study tourism earth science in 1984. In 1986, he founded the Hubei Tourism Earth Science Research Institute and served as secretary-general. In 1993, he established the Department of Tourism at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and served as the department head. He once served as a committee member of the Chinese Academy of Tourism Earth Science and Geopark Research, Geological Society of China, vice chairman of the Tourism Association of Hubei, and executive director of the Geographical Society of Hubei. He mainly engages in teaching and research of tourism, tourism earth science, and tourism planning and management. He is the author of ‘The Principles of Tourism Earth Science’, ‘Tourism Earth Science’, ‘Planning and Management of Tourism Sites’, and other training materials and has published more than 40 papers.
