Bantang Hot Spring landscape in Chaohu Lake

This is a spring landscape consisting of a combination of a cool spring and a hot spring. It is located in the foothills of Tangshan Mountain 6 km northeast of Chaohu City, Anhui Province. The landscape is formed from the merging of a cold spring with a hot spring which are one kilometre apart. At the point of convergence, half of the spring is cold, while the other half is hot. Amazed, people began calling it Bantang (Half Spring). It has both hot and cold clear spring water. The water temperature at the spring is generally 55 °C, and the spring water contains more than 30 types of trace elements. Each millilitre of water contains 80–120 pCi/L of radon gas, which is very rare in China. Bantang Hot Spring is suitable for bathing and drinking. The water quality is superb and comparable to the eight most famous drinking springs in the world.
