The India Plate is also known as the Indo-Australian Plate. This plate includes Oceania, the Indian subcontinent and the northern and eastern parts of the Indian Ocean. Its southern boundary is the oceanic ridge in the southeastern Indian Ocean, which separates it from the Antarctic Plate. A deep trench separates its eastern side from the Pacific Plate. It is bounded to the north by the suture zone between the Java Sea Trench and the Yalung Zangbo Plate. The western boundary is composed of the oceanic ridges in the central Indian Ocean, which separate it from the African Plate.
