Ichkeul National Park is located in the coastal area of northern Tunisia near the Mediterranean Sea. It has a core protection area of 126 km2. The Ichkeul Lake and wetlands are a major stopover point for hundreds of thousands of migrating birds, such as wild ducks, wild geese, storks and flamingos, which come to feed and nest. Ichkeul is the last remaining lake in a chain that once extended across North Africa.
