Ice-Scoured Lake Landscape

This landscape is composed of water-filled depressions that is formed by glacial erosion. In alpine or high-latitude areas, abrasion and plucking create depressions that, when filled with water, form ice-scoured lakes. In general, the lake basins are made up of hard bedrock, and the basin’s walls and bottom often have polished surfaces, deep glacial striations and scars (Fig. 9).
