Huzhu Mount Beishan National Geopark is located in the eastern Qilian Mountains. It is in the northeast mountainous areas of Huzhu County, Qinghai Province, along the downstream section of the Datong River and along the border between Gansu and Qinghai Provinces. It became a national geopark in 2005. The elevations of the geopark range from 2,100 to 4,308 m, and it has a unique plateau climate with temperatures that range from 0 °C to 3.8 °C. It has a pleasant and cool summer with abundant sunlight and high atmospheric transparency. It has abundant light resources contains crisscrossing ravines and gullies and a well-developed river system. It is a comprehensive geopark that features high-elevation karst landscape relics, Quaternary glaciers and red beds.
