  • First Online:

This geopark is located in the central and southern parts of Mount Taihangshan. It became a national geopark in 2005. The terrain is gentle in the northwest and steep in the east. There are more than 150 peaks and 3,400 ravines and gorges of different sizes around Huguan Taihangshan Canyon. These gorges intersect to form grand and steep precipices over 100 m high. The elevations of most peaks range from 1,000 to 1,300 m with an average elevation of 1,252 m, and the maximum elevation is 1,822 m. The geological landscapes feature deep gorges cutting through Palaeozoic carbonate rocks. The geopark consists of six scenic spots, including Wangmang Gorge, Baquan Gorge, Qinglong Gorge, Wuzhi Gorge, Hongdou Gorge and Wanfo Mountain.
