Huairou Yuanjinmeng National Mining Park, Beijing

This park is located in Liulimiao Town, Huairou District, northeast of Beijing and covers an area of 5.56 km2. It became a national mining park in 2010. The core mining heritage in the park is the Yuanjinmeng Scenic Area, which is the only gold science popularisation and sightseeing scenic area in China. The park was created from a gold mine that was closed in October 2000. The park includes rich mining heritage, including a gold orebody, prospecting features (gossans, secondary quartzite belts, and dolomite marble peaks), index minerals, structural geologic features, mining features, and mining methods and production heritage, including open-pit mining, mining chambers and mining production structures. Geological investigations, tools and equipment dating back to 1970 as well as Jinzhuan, which was the end product of the Qifengcha gold mine, can also be found in the park.
