An augen structure is a unique structure in metamorphic rocks and migmatite. Augen are lenticular eye-shaped or bean-shaped structures composed of flaky or columnar minerals around feldspar crystals (or aggregates of feldspar and quartz). Augen can form by metamorphic differentiation, metasomatism or deformation. A typical gneiss in augen structure is located in the rock strata near the exit of the cable car station at Taishan Mountain (Fig. 26).
