This geopark is located in Guide County, Qinghai Province, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It became a national geopark in 2009. The main geological features include sandstone peak clusters, Yellow River valley landscapes and wind-erosion landforms. The Ashigong peak clusters are composed of Palaogene and Neogene coloured gravel strata. The Mawuxia Wind-eroded Habitat is spectacular and has several forms. The Yellow River in the Guide region is a braided river system that forms multi-level terraces, diaras, marginal banks, and inverted rivers. The Heerjia section is a typical Pliocene - Pleistocene section with a thickness of 193 m, which contains a continuous set of river and lake deposits. Longyang Gorge is the largest, longest and deepest gorge along the Yellow River.
