When emissions gases and solid particles in the atmosphere reach a certain concentration over time, they can endanger the well-being of humans. Any substance that can deteriorate air quality is an air pollutant. Air pollutants can come from human sources, such as industrial emissions, gas leaks, coal and wood burning, vehicle exhaust, construction, and nuclear tests, as well as from natural sources, such as bush fires, volcanic eruptions and sandstorms.
