Online Self-Regulated Learning Strategies

Introduction

Online learning opportunities are becoming increasingly common, particularly in the post-compulsory education sector. However, the ease of access to online learning opportunities can conceal the multifaceted skill set required to successfully study in these environments. Learners choosing to study online need digital skills and capabilities to participate in their learning. Those capable of proactive and independent study have a distinct advantage, although learners can be encouraged to develop self-reliance and autonomy in their online studies. Application of frameworks, such as that developed by Zimmerman, can be employed to support online learners to be successful through the use of self-regulated learning strategies.
