Meteorological Monitoring and Measurement Buoy

Meteorological monitoring and measurement buoys (aka weather buoys) are the buoys to measure parameters for monitoring and weather forecasting. The measurements include air temperature above the ocean surface; wind speed and direction; barometric pressure; sea water temperature and salinity; wave height, period and direction; and current etc. The weather buoys can be an important part of the global weather monitoring and prediction system (see the ocean data buoy in Fig. 1).
