This is an infection cycle between parasites or other agents of disease on one side and hosts on the other, which does not include humans, but runs independently far from human settlements. Examples are the Chagas disease due to T. cruzi and raptor bugs when infection occurs not in human habitats but exclusively between vertebrate hosts and bugs in the wilderness. Another example for a sylvatic cycle is the transmission between dengue fever viruses and mosquitoes as vectors not in towns, but among reserve hosts in forests.
