What Is Programming?

Programming, also referred to as coding, is the process of writing, testing, debugging/troubleshooting, and maintaining the source of code of computer programs. This source code typically consists of a list of instructions that can be compiled into an executable computer program. The source code is written using a programming language, often with the aid of an integrated development environment (IDE). The target platform on which a specific program can be executed, as well as many of the features or behaviors that can be encoded, is often dependent on the specific programming language and IDE used.
