The efficacy of cariprazine could be mediated through a combination of partial agonist activity at central dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors and antagonistic activity at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors.
Indication
For the treatment of schizophrenia and for the acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder.

Side Effects
Serious
Increased risk of death in elderly people with dementia-related psychosis, extrapyramidal symptoms, Parkinsonism, akathisia.
Common
Headache, insomnia, nausea, constipation, somnolence.
