Membership
The Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) is an organization of over 75 member programs that offer comprehensive, integrated postdoctoral residencies.
Major Areas or Mission Statement
The mission of APPCN is to foster the provision of advanced specialty education and training to promote the competencies that are necessary for practice in the specialty of clinical neuropsychology (Boake et al. 2002). APPCN programs prepare residents for certification by the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN). Successful completion of an APPCN residency is sufficient to demonstrate that one has met the ABCN didactic requirements for board certification.
Landmark Contributions
Formally incorporated in 1992, APPCN contributed to the Houston Conference, which established that completion of 2 years of formal postdoctoral residency training is a uniform requirement for entry into the professional practice of clinical neuropsychology (Hannay et al. 1998...
