Motor
Definition
Anatomical term which indicates functional directionality. In nervous tissue, efferent is often used synonymously with motor when it refers to nerves carrying impulses out of the central nervous system to initiate muscle contraction. Efferent can also be used in general to refer to any connection emanating from a structure within the nervous system. The opposite direction of conduction is afferent.
