Introduction

Relationship education programs are psychoeducation groups, designed to be a preventative approach for enhancing protective factors and addressing risk factors for divorce and relational distress. One of the most widely supported relationship education programs for couples is the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP, Renick et al. 1992). PREP works with two partners – a couple – and seeks to build their skills and awareness of healthy relationships. Stemming from the core PREP concepts, Within My Reach (WRM, Rhoades and Stanley 2009) was developed for individual participation, regardless of involvement in a current romantic relationship. Similar to PREP, WMR uses strategies to increase knowledge and skills regarding positive relationships, but focuses on providing education to individuals.
