Abstract

Big data plays an important role in ensuring safe airline operations and the efficient supply of air services for passengers and cargo. At the front end of the industry, it allows carriers to make maximum use of their capital and labor and to design services to closely meet customer needs. Behind the scene, it provides weather information that feed into meteorological models which provide forecasting allowing planes to take the most economical routes and to avoid serious turbulence.
