Definitions
Diversity: How an organization or a workgroup is composed of individuals from different backgrounds in terms of observable (e.g., gender, race/ethnicity, age) and underlying attributes (e.g., skills, values, perspectives)
Representation: Whether a bureaucracy reflects the overall composition of the general population it serves with respect to demographic and socioeconomic characteristics (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender, social class)
