Definition
Procurement integrity is a principle/objective aiming at ensuring that public officials’ conducts follow ethical standards and moral values of honesty, professionalism, and righteousness throughout the public procurement process.
Introduction
Public procurement refers to the purchase of goods, services, and works which satisfies a public entity’s own needs. It represents a key governmental economic activity which accounts for a significant part of the national public expenditure. According to some estimations, around 10–15% of the gross domestic product (GDP) is spent on public procurement across the world (OECD 2009), but percentages may vary greatly from one country to another.
