E. McGrath is a professor of psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. He is a clinical psychologist who conducts research concerning (1) clinical and personality assessment, (2) measurement methods, and (3) measurement of character strengths and virtues.

Early Life and Educational Background

McGrath was born on August 31, 1956 in Woodside, New York. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, in 1978, and his M.A. in Psychology from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, in 1981. He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Auburn University in 1984 under the direction of Glenn King.

Professional Career

McGrath has taught in the School of Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University since 1984. He is also a Senior Scientist with the VIA Institute on Character in Cincinnati, Ohio.
