Roberts, Janine


Janine Roberts, Ed.D. is a US family therapist, educator, and author. She is an avid promoter of international and transnational family therapy, and her work on family rituals, stories, self-disclosure, chronic illness, systemic applications to school settings, and approaches to working with street children has been disseminated throughout the Americas, Europe, Russia, East Africa, Turkey, Australia, Malaysia, and Guam.

Roberts is professor emerita at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass) and a former Fulbright scholar. She received the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA) award for Distinguished Contribution to Family Therapy Theory and Practice. She was president of AFTA, associate editor of international scholarship for Family Process, served on numerous American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) committees, and was an AAMFT approved supervisor.
