Definition

The modelling of construction process can be defined as a procedure of collecting tangible and intangible data that is needed for a successful operationalization of construction activities. For decades, construction process modelling has largely remained manual and or partially information technology centric. This article discusses the use of digital information modelling tools as a medium for modelling construction processes as a way of improving performance in the built environment.

Introduction

The worldwide realization of the potential benefits associated with the deployment of building information modelling (BIM) (Jamil and Fathi 2018) has created, inter alia, a destructive force of unrealistic framing and hype (Fox 2014) attributable to stifling process modelling of construction activities.
