Abstract
William Perkins was a prominent theologian and Puritan preacher. After completing his studies at the University of Cambridge, he devoted himself to writing works on biblical exegesis and casuistry, to which he consistently applied the method of dichotomous bipartition characteristic of Ramus’ dialectic. Frances Yates also identified Perkins as an intellectual who sustained a bitter controversy against Alexander Dicson, author of a treatise on mnemonics influenced by Bruno.
