Abstract

Theophilos Chalkokondyles or Theophilos Tryfon Chalkokondyles or Theophilus Chalcondyles or Chalcocondyles (ca. 1486–1511) was the son of Demetrios Chalkokondyles and a disciple of the great Renaissance scholars Demetrios Chalkokondyles and Ianos Laskaris. His life and career ended unexpectedly, for he was murdered at a young age. Theophilos’ only known work is a commentary on Valerius Maximus’ Memorable Deeds and Sayings.
