Business process reengineering refers to a substantial change of a company’s organizational processes that (i) is enabled by the implementation of new information technologies that were not previously used by the company, (ii) takes an interfunctional (or interorganizational) perspective, i.e., involves multiple organizational functions (or organizations) that cooperate along processes (iii) considers end-to-end processes, i.e., processes that deliver a service to a company’s customers, (iv) emphasizes the integration of information and related information technologies to obtain seamless technological support along processes.
