Where a single server visits each group of customers (queue) in cyclic order and then polls to see if there is anyone present. If yes, the service facility serves those customers under such rules as gated (serve only those present when polled) or exhaustive (serve until no customers are left at the location).  Networks of queues;  Queueing theory.
