Yingde stone, also known as Ying stone, is a sedimentary carbonate rock. It gets its name because it is mined in the Ying Hill in Wangbu Town, northern Yingde County, Guangdong Province. Yingde stone has a rugged texture with abrupt edges, a wrinkled shape, holes, small peak-like features and natural undulating wrinkle marks that is formed by the abrasion of water over long periods. It can be light cyan, greyish black, light green, black or white. It is hard but brittle with a fine and moist texture. It sounds like metal when struck. In contrast to Lingbi stone and Taihu stone, Yingde stone can be used for landscape gardening as well as for indoor displays, and it is generally divided into large display stones, medium display stones, component display stones and small display stones (Fig. 9).
