This geopark is located in Haute-Savoie in eastern France, bordering Italy and the Swiss Sleeping Region. It became a global geopark in 2012. It contains diverse terrain types, from alpine peaks to glaciers to Baililong Lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in western Europe. The unique geological heritage of the Alps has assisted in the economic and cultural development of the area through tourism. Thanks to its beautiful and diverse environment, Chablis has become a habitat for many fauna and flora.
