This is a type of swamp landscape comprising swamps formed by the saturation of geothermal water on the ground surface or by poor drainage in low-lying hot spring areas. Warm swamps are common in relatively open areas with geothermal activity. The swamps can cover areas from several hundreds to tens of thousands of square metres. The water temperature is mainly 15–20 °C with higher temperatures around the spring mouths. The swamp margins are 10–30 cm deep and have lush algae (Fig. 4).
