A tourist destination refers to an area used for tourism. To be regarded by the public as a worthwhile tourist destination, a tourist destination must have: (1) a relatively stable group of tourists with a certain size; (2) important and systematic tourist attractions (unique tourism resources of a certain scale); (3) a certain geographical location and an independent administrative region (e.g., a scenic area, city, region, country); and (4) a self-contained system providing complete tourism services and facilities (e.g., food, accommodations, transportation, touring, shopping and entertainment). In addition to the necessary objective conditions, purposeful planning and building are also important for tourism destinations.
