This is a type of carbonate landform landscape. Under humid climate conditions, carbonate rocks tend to dissolve and be modified by other dynamic geological effects to form columns more than 5 m tall with various forms. They can develop in clusters or in isolation to form a unique karst landscape that looks like a woodland when viewed from a distance. The dissolution process includes subterranean dissolution and surface rainwater erosion. The resulting columnar forms include sword-like, sharp cone-like, mushroom-like, pagoda-like, cylindrical, castle-like and irregular forms (Fig. 42).
