This is a kind of marine erosional landscape in a rocky harbour. It looks like an arched bridge, so it is called a sea arch. Sea arches often form on coastal headlands, where both sides of the headland are subject to intense marine erosion. Sea caves form first and are later eroded to form a sea arch. They are also known as ‘sea domes’ in Chinese. In northern China, there are many typical sea arches near Jinshajui (Gold Mountain Mouth) in Beidaihe (Fig. 14).
