This is a landscape composed of shoals exposed above the water surface in rivers, lakes and shores. It is a general term that includes heart-shaped bars and river islands in rivers and the sandy bars that form along the shores of lakes or the ocean. It is a typical fluvial and lacustrine depositional landform.
