Otog Dinosaur Fauna and Footprints

This fossil site is located in the Cretaceous Zhidan Group and Dongsheng Formation around Chabusumu in Otog Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Abundant fossils of large dinosaurs, such as sauropods, theropods and ornithopods, have been excavated. The dinosaurs are mainly Psittacosaurus, Ikechosaurus, Wuerhosaurus, and possibly China’s Ornithomimus. Dinosaur footprint fossils are well developed at this site, including footprints of Thetopod, which is the fastest known dinosaur (12 m/s). Turtle fossils have also been unearthed (Fig. 6).
