This geopark is located in the Suxian District and Beihu District of Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, and is characterised by its Danxia landform. It became a national geopark in 2002. The Danxia landform of flat-top towers are scattered and dissected by steep red cliffs. Many village walls are eroded into circular depressions and pits. The Wanhua karst cave formed in the Lower Carboniferous limestone and is approximately 9 km long, and it contains an underground river that is 2,245 m long. The cave contains 13 distinctive halls, the largest of which can accommodate thousands of people. The travertine deposits in the cave include stone fields, stalagmites, stalactites, pillars, stone pillars, and stone curtains. The ‘underwater crystal cones’, ‘stone eggs’ and ‘bamboo shoots’ are the main attractions.
