Abstract

HRP-4C is a humanoid robot with body dimensions close to the average Japanese young female, developed to seek applications for the entertainment industry. In this chapter, after explaining the background of our development, they introduce its basic configuration, joint mechanisms, whole body mechanism, and electronics. They were all concerned with the realization of human-like body proportion of HRP-4C. They also explain the design of appearance, head design, and hand design in terms of human-like outlook. Finally, they present research activities using HRP-4C and the remaining problems.
