Funktion:
Die Erythrozyten werden in Suspension zunächst mit dem spezifischen erythrozytären Antikörper inkubiert. Außerdem wird ein monoklonaler Antikörper von der Maus hinzugefügt, der mit einem differenten Epitop der Erythrozytenmembran reagiert und die Bindung an die Festphase von Mikrotiterplatten ermöglichen soll. Anschließend werden die Erythrozyten mithilfe eines Detergens lysiert und das Solubilisat auf Mikrotiterplatten, deren Oberflächen mit polygonalen Anti-Maus-IgG-Antikörpern von der Ziege beschichtet sind, überführt. Die Detektion spezifischer erythrozytärer Antigen-Antikörper-Komplexe erfolgt photometrisch mit Hilfe von peroxidase-konjugierten Anti-Human-IgG-Antikörpern.
Der MAIEA-Test wurde entwickelt, um Blutgruppenantigene zu untersuchen. Anwendungen für die Lutheran-, Yt- und Kell-Blutgruppensysteme sind beschrieben.
