Abstract
Developing country like India is endowed with three major problems such as pollutants, poverty, and population. As an eco-management measure to overcome these problems, efforts have been made throughout the length and breadth of this country to recycle the solid wastes in order to make them again available as the beneficial commodity for the human being. Paper pulp mill wastes are important solid wastes generated in the process of paper production utilizing several ingredients chiefly constituted by the land-pulp materials along with different other chemicals such as bleaching chemicals, coating chemical, etc. which are subjected under mechanical process of engineering technology. However, the discarded materials generated in the process of paper production not only deteriorate the aesthetic quality of the surrounding places of the industry but also tend to impose long-term environmental impacts deteriorating the quality of soil and water and even the groundwater of the adjoining areas. An important task for the environmental managers is to undertake some eco-friendly as well as user-friendly technologies for the sustainable eco-management of this nuisance of the environment. The chapter conferred different aspects of management and tried to emphasize the multifarious utility of waste starting from an energy resource to different types of biomedical activities like anticancer and antioxidant properties, etc. The context intends to conclude with an environmental auditing of the production process in the paper industry taking into consideration the cost-effectiveness in terms of both ecology and economy with an eye to overcome the problems of pollution and poverty in a populated country like India.
