Introduction

Reflecting teams are one of the most influential and widely used practices in couple and family therapy. They provide a nondefensive context for offering new ideas and perspectives into therapy sessions that can support the therapeutic conversation in the therapy room and/or generate new avenues that can be explored by the family and the therapist. During the main part of the interview, the reflecting team sits quietly behind the mirror, not conversing but attending to their own thoughts and experiences while observing and listening to the therapy session.
