As a means of providing instant networking to a group of devices which may not be within the transmission range of one another without the support of any infrastructure, wireless multi-hop self-organizing networks are becoming increasingly popular, such as mobile ad hoc network (MANET), wireless sensor networks (WSNs), and wireless mesh networks (WMNs). Wireless multi-hop transmission is a promising wireless solution for numerous applications Ian et al. (2005), e.g., wireless sensor networking, broadband home networking, wireless campus networking, wireless enterprise networking, temporary emergency communications, intelligent transportation, etc. Despite the availability of many routing protocols for multi-hop wireless networks, the design of new routing metrics is still an active research topic in order to improve the network performance.
