The mission of the ICIJ is “to bring accountability on a grand scale… [by means of] a new kind of scrutiny to world events and complex problems – using data and document-supported facts that cannot easily be dismissed” (ICIJ 2019).
Description
According to the website of the ICIJ, the group wants “to inspire and cultivate a global community of reporters and readers who believe journalism can bring about positive change.” The nonprofit organization, based in Washington, D.C., includes over “220 of the best investigative reporters from 83 countries and territories” partnered with “more than 100 media organizations.” The latter include distinguished outlets like the BBC, the New York Times, and the Guardian.
