Definition
An official, public, usually written, not binding statement or document of intent sign by states, international organizations or other stakeholders (including universities) responsible for the education sector, to implement sustainable development through education and curricula, research, campus operations and organizational change management and its ability to be successful and produce the intended results.
Introduction
According to the definition used in the United Nations Brundtland Report (1987), sustainable development is defined as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” This concept is based on three “pillars” of sustainability, the economic, social, and environmental factors, which are interconnected, overlapping, and interdependent.
