Definition

Continuous improvement efforts can be defined as a methodology of actively and repeatedly making process improvements. Its focus is on improving communication of strategic goals that are guided by measuring and monitoring the production process. Continuous improvement is an ongoing activity aimed to raise organization-wide performance by making incremental and focused changes (Bessant and Caffyn 1997). Rapid and continuous improvements combine to achieve operational excellence that helps organizations sustain changes.
