Hypermedia in a Nutshell: Historical Landmarks

Hypermedia, in short, relates to a new kind of resource that links several kinds of documents (texts, images, sounds), allowing easy nonlinear navigation through the material. But this is only one view of a more complex matter. In what follows, some historical indications shall be given, and then the case of hypermedia for education will be analyzed.

It is generally assumed that the idea of hypertext dates back from Vannevar Bush, at the end of World War II.
