Abstract
Members of mite families, Eriophyidae and Tetranychidae, are known to transmit plant viruses in a semi-persistent and persistent manner. They are very small in size (<250 μm) and hence easily dispersed by wind. Eriophyidae mites are important vectors of pigeonpea sterility mosaic virus, wheat streak mosaic virus, fig mosaic virus, peach mosaic virus and ryegrass mosaic virus and cause serious losses to the economy of these crops.
