A rudimentary working knowledge of enzyme kinetics is of great value in the use of enzymes as analytical tools. An analysis may fail if too little enzyme is used, because of incomplete reaction, but it may also fail if too much enzyme is used. This might not be true if absolutely pure, single-action, enzymes were available.
